It’s been far too long since the last contest, to let’s get cracking with the next one. The good folks at Honey Stinger, GU, and Clif Bars have been kind enough to donate some great grub for the winners, and all you have to do is sift through the truth and Find the Lie. We’ve cobbled together a list of fun facts about our founder/editor Billy Brown, and we stuck a little white lie about him in there, too.
All’s you need to is figure out which one of the Billy Facts is untrue and post it in the comments section below. If you guess right, you’ll win one of Billy’s favorite snacks:
1st Winner: 1 Box of Honey Stinger Waffles, any flavor
2nd Winner: 5 Clif Panaforte Bars
3rd Winner: 1 Box of Honey Stinger Waffles, any flavor
4th Winner: 5 Packs of GU Brew Recovery Chocolate Smoothie Mix
5th Winner: 1 Box of Honey Stinger Waffles, any flavor
Sound good? Of course it does. It sounds delicious. Alright, read on and write your best guess in the comments section below.
Billy…
1)…occasionally uses poker winnings to help fund his freelance writing career. Poker winnings keep me properly caffeinated.
2)…got lost on a trail run and accidentally ran 25 miles. That was a looong morning.
3)…has juggled $80,000 in wrapped bundles of $20′s. This is true (see comments).
4)…once shaved his head in a gas station bathroom before a job interview.
5)…has had a chunk of redwood embedded in his body since 1999.
6)…has had an irrational fear of clowns since an unfortunate Bop-It incident when he was 3. I hate clowns. And so should you.
7)…learned how to rock climb on a 60-foot overhanging limestone route called Crankwhore. Probably the only 5.11 I’ll ever climb.
Sift through these and guess which “fact” is untrue! We’ll post the answer and contact the winners when five people get it right.
One guess per post (no guessing them all at once), and only two guesses per person. Good luck!
Oh yeah, and when five people guess the same wrong answer, I’ll expose it as the truth. If you guess that one, you get another guess.

Thought that’d do it-we have our five winners! I have never shaves my head in a gas station bathroom before. Job interview? Screw that noise. I’ll get a hold of the five who guessed #4 and get some goodies sent out!
#5
My guess is 4
My second guess is 5. I have a feeling that redwood would be crazy infected by now! That said, this is Billy Brown we’re talking about…
My second guess is #4
Well, since I already guessed #4 I guess that leaves #5 as my second guess. (brilliant).
I remember you telling the climbing story during the ride from PHX to Sedona. OmniTen advantage. Woot.
Nope, not 7. There’s a sweet limestone area just East of Redding. Crankwhore was my first project. Brett, that wall didn’t go up in my garage until way after I started climbing. 7 guessers, guess again. And here’s some more help: poker winnings are great for covering coffee expenses. There. And I got waaay lost in Whiskeytown Rec area and my 18-mile run turned into a 25-mile run. I’d say your odds just got a lot better. You can do it, Boué!
Okay, new guess - #7!
#7 is false!
I am going with #5 because I don’t think you were even born in 1999
Just in case it isn’t #1. My second guess is #4.
I think 7 is false. I think you learned to climb under a bridge and in a garage. Am I allowed to guess?
#2 is false, there’s no getting lpst in trail running its just trail running no matter what route you take.
Sorry folks, I have a deathly fear of clowns. My dad says its from when my clown Bop-It rebounded and knocked me down. Getting closer! If you guessed 6, you can guess again!
And #6 as my backup
I’d guess #7
I’m going to go with number 6 as the lie, because there’s nothing irrational about a fear of clowns.
I’ll go with 6 as my second guess.
Or it might be #2
I think #4
I’ll go with 6 as my first guess! I think. Maybe. Yeah.
I think #1 is false. I think you are a good poker player, but I don’t think you win quite enough to make that a viable option of funding your writing.
In case I’m right, I will forfeit my winnings since I’m related to B … but I still want to play. Is #7 the lie? I think B really learned to climb back when he was 5 using a rope that Dad had hung off the back porch. B has had serious shoulder and upper back muscles since he was a wee young’un.
My guess is #6!
I’m gonna go with #4 because it’s my lucky number. No other reason.
Number 2
I love it. Nobody things I’m a baller. It’s not #3: I worked for an ATM company filling machines for a while after college. 20′s come in bricks of $20K, and they’re surprisingly small. And yes, I juggled four of them. Briefly. If you guessed #3, go ahead and try again.
And Buzzbomb: I meant this kind of Bop It: http://www.amazon.com/Rocket-USA-Bozo-Bop-Bag/dp/B00067TAWG/ref=sr_1_3?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1341102942&sr=1-3&keywords=inflatable+bop+bag
Or…using my second guess I think #6.
Really want some of those Honey Stingers!
I think #1 is false.
I don’t think I listened to you well enough =/ I question 3, because if you juggled $80,000 in only 20s those rolls would be huge. I know you had a friend perform “surgery” on you but don’t know if that’s from a redwood since 1999.
With that being said, I’d say #6 isn’t true since Bop It didn’t even come out until 1996 per wikipedia.
I believe number 3 to be the lie.
Number 3 is not true
And since I get two guesses, I’ll go with 5 for my second guess
I’ll go with 3.
I’m going to go with number 3.
Number 3 is the lie!
I’m going with 2. I’m pretty sure 6 is true…
