Arc’teryx Caden Gloves $235

The Good: Waterproof Goretex, soft leather palms and a heart filled with Polartec warmth, it’s all good here.

The Bad: The smooth material around the wrist didn’t give much grip for my jacket cuffs, making it slide up a bit.

The Awesome: Quality materials, excellent performance, and they look good doing it. 

When we saw Arc’teryx come out with the smooth and streamlined Caden gloves, the style immediately caught our attention.  As with all Arc’teryx gear, the design looks great with smooth lines and well thought-out features.  The gloves feature a Goretex and leather palm shell, with a removable fast dry fleece Polartec liner.  The liner has Thermal Pro Tweed with Wind Pro High Loft in the palms for exceptional dexterity. The cuff fits tight under jackets with a soft strip of Velcro, folding smoothly out of the way, with a removable low profile leash right at the base.

We took these gloves out to find the snow in Lake Tahoe for a few days and they held up against all the elements.  On a sunny day, the breathable materials kept them dry and comfortable, without the typical overheating my companions experienced.  As the weather turned cold with snow, the gloves shrugged off the wind while keeping warm with excellent grip thanks to the leather palms. The fit of both the shell and liner are cut anatomically, and with the hybrid materials they stayed comfortable all day. Something we noticed along the way, the smooth cuff didn’t allow a jacket to hold on very tight so occasional adjustments had to be made to keep snow and wind from creeping in.

Overall, this glove is great for a huge variety of adventure thanks to solid protection and excellent dexterity.
