A few months back, we put Outdoor Technology’s Turtle shell bluetooth speakers through the ringer; we soaked it, dropped it, froze it, pretty much beat it like a rented mule.
Well, it looks like OT is sick of getting bullied, because they just released the BIG Turtle Shell, a 2.2lb, 110 decibel monster that not only connects wirelessly with your smartphone, but it’ll also charge it while you’re listening via its 7800mA battery (good for four iPhone charges). And it’s still tough as hell - rain/snow/dirt/shock proof - so you can use them as your deck speakers or haul it with you on a weekend camp trip. Boom. We’ve been playing with an early release for the last few weeks and it’s got a boom to it; been fueling some early morning workouts. We can tell you this - White Zombie comes in loud and clear on these suckers.

I have the smaller turtle shell in a shithole of a 3rd world country. I have put it through the paces and it keeps pumping out great beats and has not broke. I tend to break all of my electronics during my travels. The boom box looks sic. Can’t go wrong with these guys if you like great tunes and hang out in strange places whilst doing even stranger things.
