Gregory Women’s Pace 3 Hydration pack- $99, gregorypacks.com
Although this pack is lightweight and low profile, there’s no question it can handle the elements. We took this pack on one of the most test worthy runs of all time; The Tough Mudder. The course was 11 miles in 80+ degrees weather and as our tester was in and out of water, over and under obstacles, and rolling through the mud. Overall she was pretty impressed with how the pack held up. There was no strap snagging as she crawled through mud pits and after getting the pack drenched it was still breathable and dried rather quickly. Better yet, it looked good as new when she hosed it off afterwards. Our only issues with the Pace 3 worth mentioning are the chest strap adjustment and water hose. The pack takes a little messing around with before it fits comfortably. However once it does, with the Wraptor single-pull stabilizing system, its bounce is minimal and its presence is almost unnoticeable. The water hose, inconveniently, is short so our testers had to crane their necks most of the time to get to the bite valve, which then didn’t always provide the best water flow.
Overall, this pack is a great choice for female distance runners. Lucky for you, men, they make a male’s version of this pack as well. So, whether it’s a hot run ahead of you or braving a storm, pack up the Pace 3 and stay prepared for anything on your adventure on the trails.
