Redding Beer Week Weekly Schedule and Daily Coverage

Tomorrow night, Redding Beer Week kicks off with the Opening Ceremony at Redding’s Civic Auditorium, showcasing 28 different breweries’ best and brightest beers.

Needless to say, we at Trek Tech are a little excited.

To celebrate the return of Redding, CA’s epic 9-day celebration of all things beer, the Trek Tech crew will be hitting up as many events as our livers (and spouses) are willing to put up with, and we’ll be writing up the experiences.

With so much going on for the next nine days, it can be easy to miss out on a few things, so every night, we’ll post a list of the following day’s events and try to give you an idea of what to hit up the next day.

Needless to say, this is a big job, so I’ve gathered a crack team of drinkers, writers, and photographers to do this event justice. Say hello to the crew (clockwise from top left: Billy Brown, Jason Ballard, Carson Blume, Aaron Palmer, and David Skinner).

We’ll give you a heads-up on what we’re doing, so come on down and grab a high-five and a pint with us! Keep track of our doings on Instagram at @trek_tech or by following #reddingbeerweek. First up, the Opening Ceremony at the Civic Auditorium from 6pm to 10pm tomorrow night: 28 breweries pouring their beer and kicking down munchies to soak up all that booze. More directions and details at ReddingBeerWeek.com. Grab your tickets here and start Redding Beer Week with a bang!

Every day we’ll post the next day’s events so you won’t miss a thing:

Saturday, August 16

We don’t want you blaming us if you miss an event at Beer Week, so we’re laying it all out for you every day. Also, we thought we’d give you a head’s up on where we’ll be if you want a high five or a head butt. Here’s what’s going on tomorrow. For the full list of events, check out Reddingbeerweek.com.

10:30 am: 9 on 9 Golf Tourney & BBQ at Lake Redding Golf Course

Start your weekend right with nine beers, nine holes, and a barbecue lunch right afterwards. Skinner and Carson will be there, so be sure to heckle them on their back swings.

11:00 am-5:00pm: Homebrew Competition at NorCal Brewing Solutions

Think your beer is worth distributing? Put it to the test with some other local heroes at NorCal Brewing Solutions. The winner will get to shadow brew their beer with Fall River Brewing Co.’s master brewer and have it distributed throughout Redding.

1:00pm  to Close: Bay Area Beers at Maxwell’s Downtown Eatery

Grab some brews from 21st Amendment, Anchor, Drake’s, Calicraft, and Lagunitas!

3:00pm to Close: Sour Night at Alehouse Pub

Have a taste for the sour things in life? Head down to the Alehouse for some pucker-inducing brews. I might have to head down and refine my sours palate.

5:00pm to Close: Deschutes Reserve Beer and Cheese at Vintage Wine Bar & Restaurant

Vintage is pairing some of my favorite Deschutes brews (Mirror Mirror, the Abyss, Not the Stoic) with some fancy-pants cheeses. If you like the dark stuff, hit this one up.

6:00pm to Close: Lost Coast BDay Bash at Cicada Cantina

Lost Coast is celebrating their 25th birthday with their 25th Silver Anniversary Belgium Strong Ale, live music, giveaways, and, of course, a birthday cake. We’ll be there to make sure they brought enough for everyone.

8:00pm - ???: Fall River Concert at  The Cascade Theater ($5)

End your day on a classy note with art exhibits, craft beer, and live music featuring Garage Voice & Wesley Jensen/Penny Arcade. We’ll see you out there.

Sunday, August 17

We’re getting  into the swing of things at Redding Beer Week, and the weather is definitely calling for some cold beer. Good thing we have a few options; looking forward to seeing everybody out and about today. Here’s a head’s up on what’s going down on Sunday, August 17. For a full list of the week’s events, head over to ReddingBeerWeek.com.

9:00am to 1:00pm: Fall River Beer Brunch at Shameless O’Leery’s

Forget the mimosas: wake up on the right side of the bed with some great breakfast treats and Fall River Beer.

11:00am to 2:00pm: Cali Burritos & Calicraft at Maxwell’s Downtown Eatery

Represent your state with some classic California cuisine: burritos and beer from Calicraft Brewing Company.

2:00pm to 6:00pm: Sunday Funday at Sweetspot

Head over to Sweetspot for beer floats and some sweet and savory pairings.

3:00pm to 9:00pm: Sand and Suds Volleyball Tourney at Big League Dreams

Beach volleyball and a beer garden. Enough said. Gather up teams of 2, 4, or 6, and head on over. Billy and Carson will be there embarrassing themselves.

6:00pm to 9:00pm: Sierra Nevada Restaurant Takeover at Cheesecakes Unlimited

We’ll be nursing our volleyball wounds with  Sierra Nevada, a special pairing menu, and live music.
