I drive in remote areas more than most people, so I’m pretty qualified when it comes to cell coverage and managing the faint signals that most mountain terrains provide. When heading out for a weekend trip, holiday driving, or just commuting in areas with shoddy service the Sleek 4G booster really can provide the needed boost in signal to stay connected a little while longer. With an internal mount connected to an external antenna, coverage is boosted at least 1 bar in most areas which means a big boost in overall use. The Sleek 4G is a dash mounted cradle that is powered by a standard 12v plug-in with a USB charging port, utilizing a stick-on pad to mount the system to the dash.
The system was easy to install, with plenty of line to run the antenna cord from outside mount through the trunk and under the back seat. This cord attached to the surface-mounted (double sided 3M stick-on tape) base which serves as the base for the cradle. The interface between the cradle and the mount is not very secure, with quite a bit of side-to-side play, but gravity holds in it place well enough for general driving use. Another disappointing issue is the problem of the sticky mount not actually staying stuck in hot weather (Redding heat is up around 110 in the summer, so inside a car is well above that. The mount has been used for long enough this may just require a re-application of double sided tape, other options for mounting include a gooseneck suction cup, and a cup holder mount.
