Several years ago I quit my job, and then Trek Tech creator Billy took me in and let me write reviews on this very website. Since then, I’ve trained with world record holders in the most extreme environments on earth, became a published outdoor and travel photographer, and recently completed my very first expedition paddling over 280 miles through the Canadian wilderness.
With World in 360 I record my adventures using 360 Video technology and put them into Virtual Reality Headsets that I bring to orphanages, hospitals, inpatient care centers, schools, and more. It is impossible for me to explain the feeling of freedom I have when I am able to see the Aurora Borealis with my own eyes, or have my hat stolen by sled dog puppies, or surf a monster wave. And every time I have felt it, I have had an equally powerful feeling of wanting others to feel the same. With this technology, not only am I able to bring these experiences to you using VR, but I can take along those who truly appreciate it most because they are physically incapable, or ill, or simply need the inspiration to start their own adventures in life.
We are now regularly visiting centers and working with professionals to discover how this technology can be used for treatment, therapy, and other productive purposes beyond entertainment.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt that in the process we are able to experiment and bring some very cool new perspectives on the beautiful world we live in. Just check out our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for some of these amazing images. And, visit the World in 360 website to see all the videos from the past month where we took the challenge to create one video per day for 30 days!
Thank you for encouraging me and please drop by and leave a comment if you enjoyed these photos and the video. We would love to hear requests and get new ideas!
Note: We get to keep most of the gear that we test out. While this is a perk, we try hard to give everything an unbiased review no matter what.
If you end up buying something through a link on our site, we generally get a small commission on the referral, this won't cost you more, but helps us keep the lights on around here!
For all media review requests, reach out to our managing editor, David Skinner.
