Christmas Wish Lists: David “Skinny” Skinner’s Wish List
There’s a pretty solid urban myth that guys are generally hard to shop for. But honestly, there are many things on my official wishlist that I would be thrilled to pull out of a stocking. Just because we don’t need much to survive a jaunt out into the wild, doesn’t mean we don’t like nice things when we’re home. Now before you ask: yes, the greatest spy in the world does fit into a stocking - he’s an international spy
Triple Aught Design Skull Wrap Insulated Kleen Kanteen - $39
We’re supposed to take in about 3L of water a day to keep up with our daily activities, and more if you’re out there chugging life like you should be. I love Triple Aught Design’s killer style of the Skull Wrap Insulated Bottle. Kleen Kanteen’s stainless steel bottles are excellent because I don’t fancy chugging down chemicals with my H2O. The insulated bottle keeps things hot or cold longer.
The Whiskey Advent Calendar - $243
This unique gift is a surefire guarantee that the holidays will be a bit more enjoyable. I’ll sure look forward to a bit of daily holiday spirit from the fine folks at master of malt. Although it’s all going to be excellent, behind one of the doors is a 50 year old scotch whiskey.
Gerber Tactical Go-Bag - $275
I’d say we all need a go-bag for what life throws our way. I personally keep a stocked bag in my car in case of emergencies, and the new Gerber go-bag has all of this inside:
- MP600-ST (Sight Tool), MOLLE mounted
- EZ-Out DPSF - S30V Black & Recon Task Light
- Frog Lube CLP - 4oz liquid bottle
- Metal Water Bottle
- rite-in-the-rain note pad & pocket reference guide
I’d add in a first-aid kit, emergency blanket, and a couple MREs for good measure; but as a bug-out-bag this is a great starting point.
Archer Cardboard Stand-Up - $35
What am I thinking?! I’ll tell you what I’m thinking - Sterling Archer is the spy I could have been. Well, maybe not, but I’m a fan and I think this 6’2″ cardboard archer cutout would be exceptional on the wall. There are way too many reasons why this is awesome, you’ll have to check out a few episodes to get what I mean. Lana is available too, but honestly she’s a bit intimidating.
Griffin MOTO TC Monster Bluetooth controlled truck - $60
Yep, bluetooth control of a RC monster truck. Forget the train around the tree, this is the way to go; and the iPhone Bluetooth control really brings out the geek in me. Tilt the phone to turn the car, and use the app to preset tracks and tricks. They also have a helicopter and a racer model that look like a whole lot of fun.
Zippo Hand Warmers, smooth matte black - $20
Does Zippo make anything that isn’t top notch? My cheapo boxy hand warmer only lasts an hour or so and I hate to throw away the plastic disposable types. In addition to looking sharp and slim in matte black , it lasts up to 12 hours so I can stay out and play longer.
Leatherman OHT - $70
I’ve had the Leatherman wave for years, and it’s been a dependable part of my outdoor life through all kinds of adventures. The new OHT has more of the tools I want and a lot of extra details like replacement teeth for the wire cutters.
